The two separated for several years: Pierce formed indie rock group Elkland which quickly gained attention. Meanwhile Graham  formed ‘Horse Shoes’ which was signed by Shelflife Records. Eventually they both decided to switch from synthesizers to guitars, and formed the Drums in late 2006 in New York, recruiting drummer Connor Hanwick.

In December 2009, Drums were shortlisted as one of the 15 music acts for the BBC Sound of 2010. Subsequently, Drums placed at #5 in this list on 4 January 2010. The Drums also appeared in Cliché Magazine’s December ’09/January ’10 issue. The Drums were also voted ‘Best Hope for 2010′ in Pitchfork Media’s 2009 Readers’ Poll. In June 2010, Drums played as one of the support bands for Kings of Leon in Hyde Park, London. On 7 May 2010, Drums appeared on Friday Night with Jonathan Ross where they performed “Best Friend”.

Motorhead tend to be a British rock band formed in 1975 by bassist, singer and songwriter Ian Fraser Kilmister, known mostly by their stage name Lemmy, who may have remained the sole continual user. The band pre-dated, but they are sometimes regarded as section of, the New Wave of British Heavy Metal, which re-energised heavy metal in late 1970s and very early 1980s. Generally a power trio, Motrhead had specific success during the early 1980s with a number of effective singles in the UK Top 40 chart. The albums Overkill, Bomber, Ace of Spades, and particularly No Sleep ’til Hammersmith, cemented Motrhead’s reputation as one of Britain’s foremost stone groups. The musical organization’s name is often imprinted in a lowercase type of blackletter. The umlaut personality is possibly derived from the similar “heavy metal and rock umlaut” in title of their 1975 acquaintances Blue yster Cult. However, this umlaut will not affect the pronunciation of the musical organization’s name. Whenever expected if Germans pronounced the musical organization “Motuuuurhead”, Lemmy answered “No, they don’t really. We only place it inside to appear mean”. Snaggletooth is the fanged face that functions as the sign of Motrhead. Musician Joe Petagno received it in 1977 for the address for the band’s first record album (with designer Phil Smee who turned it into a negative then designed the logo design).

Motrhead are generally categorized as heavy metal and rock, and their fusion of punk rock into the category helped to pioneer speed steel and thrash metal. Lemmy dislikes these types of labels, preferring to explain the band’s songs just as “rock n’ roll” and usually starting live shows using the line “We are Motrhead. We perform stone.”. Motrhead’s strategy has remained the same throughout the musical organization’s profession, preferring to play what they enjoy and do most useful; their appreciation of very early rock-and-roll is reflected in a few of the periodic address tracks. Motrhead’s lyrics usually cover such topics as war, good versus evil, misuse of power, promiscuous sex, substance abuse, and “life on the road”. The musical organization’s unique fanged-face logo design, featuring its oversized boar’s horns, stores, and spikes, was created by artist Joe Petagno in 1977 when it comes to address of the Motrhead album and has now appeared in many variations on covers of ensuing records. The fanged face has-been labeled variously as “War-Pig” and “Snaggletooth”. Although the musical organization are typically categorized as heavy metal and rock or speed material, Lemmy has actually reported which he never ever considered Motrhead a metal band. When asked if he has an issue with Motrhead becoming known as a metal band, he replied: “I do, because i-come from way before Metal. I am playing Rock letter Roll and I also believe Rock n Roll should be sacred it is in my opinion. We dont see why it will not be for everybody else.”

In a biography regarding the band, senior editor for Allmusic, Stephen Erlewine, blogged: “Motrhead’s overwhelmingly loud and quick type of heavy metal had been one of the more innovative styles the style needed to provide in the belated ’70s.” and although “Motrhead was not punk stone … these were the initial metal band to use that power and, along the way, they developed speed steel and thrash material.” Whether they produced these genres could be at the mercy of debate, but Motrhead were unquestionably influential. Lemmy has actually stated which he generally seems much more kinship with punk rockers than with material rings: Motrhead had gigs with fellow Brits The Damned, with who he played bass on a handful of belated 1970s gigs, as well as having penned the track “R.A.M.O.N.E.S.” as a tribute on Ramones. Motrhead, Lemmy says, do have more in common visually because of the Damned than Black Sabbath, and nothing whatsoever in accordance with Judas Priest. Lemmy says he seems little kinship using speed material groups Motrhead have inspired.
